Traffic Impact Studies
SITE prepares traffic impact
studies using sophisticated and up-to-date software for intersection capacity
and Level-Of-Service including HCS 2000 and SIGNAL2000. In-house designed
spreadsheets are used for signal and turn-lane warrants and for trip
generation.
Permitting
Permitting the necessary
intersection or roadway improvements, driveway connections, and/or traffic
signal installations can be complex and time consuming. SITE works with state
and local transportation and public works departments to secure the appropriate
grading and construction permits.
Signal Design
For many commercial projects, a
traffic signal is necessary. SITE uses CAD software to design state-of-the-art
signal plans. Signal design plans and equipment specifications are coordinated
with local and state agencies.
Geometric Design
SITE designs intersection and
roadway improvements as well as driveways and internal street systems for small
and large scale developments. SITE Engineers design plans for intersection
realignment and/or improvement, additional lanes or turn lanes on roadways, and
other geometric improvements.
Traffic Control Plans
SITE works with local
municipalities and utility companies to develop traffic control plans for road
and/or utility projects.
Master Planning
Large-scale municipal or private
projects often require Master Planning. In conjunction with the Civil
Engineering and Planning Department, or with other specialized firms, the
Transportation Department analyzes and prepares integrated plans for
transportation networks including major road systems, sidewalks, bikeways,
transit routes, and truck routes.
Site Circulation
As with Master Planning, SITE
provides plans for on-site circulation systems for large and small
developments. Each site plan is evaluated and designed to accommodate the
appropriate traffic elements including passenger vehicles, transit vehicles,
commercial vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists. The internal traffic
circulation including the parking areas, drive aisles, driveways, and
loading/unloading areas are designed for efficiency, function, and safety.
Grant Writing
SITE staff has experience in
transportation and related grant writing at the State and Federal level.
